Overview:
Applications engineers are involved in assisting customers in setting up processes on Axcelis ion implantation equipment. The positions require many of the same skills and knowledge that our customers' process engineers require in their jobs. The position is a high-level support function with process engineering and equipment characterization components.
Essential Responsibilities:
Perform technical support for all segments of the organizationProvide reactive and proactive technical support for customers including machine and process troubleshootingPerform individually or with peers on scientific or engineering projectsPerform scientific or mathematical analysis and calculationsDesign/conduct/directs complex laboratory experiments/field tests to ascertain hitherto unknown informationInterpret and communicate resultsPrepare detailed scientific reports and comprehensive proposalsContribute ideas which improve our product or processesUnderstand and interpret business and technology trendsPublish technical papers, application notes, manuals and presents seminars to train othersPerform other related duties or similar nature and complexity as directedAdditional Responsibilities:
Evaluate and interpret technical papers, standards, specifications, and emerging technology trends.Reviews and studies professional literature and other wise maintains and improves current technical skillsDiscuss and write about technical issuesProvide guidance and information resources to train and develop others.Present technical results and product information at conferences and support of marketing and sales objectives

Multiple aspects of semiconductor equipment subsystems. Basic implanter or related thermal proessing physics. Beam optics. Dosimetry systems, Vacuum technology. Temperature measurement systems. Semiconductor fabrication and device physics. Clean room protocols and wafer processing. Implant chemical analysis techniques. Implant and wafer metrology. Basic business, accounting & financial practices. Basic management techniques. Supervising others.
Skilled at:
Using PC. Guiding others through technical issues. Personal communications. Delivering formal training & presentations. Interpreting engineering standards and forms. Applying knowledge to the solution of difficult problems. Written communication. Time management. Technical learning. Problem solving. Priority setting.
Bachelors degree required.
