The S enior Accountant is an integral part of the process of preparing and reviewing tax returns for individuals and businesses; and assisting with tax planning, and business advisory services.
Duties/Responsibilities: P repar es intermediary and complex federal and state income tax returns for individuals and businesses. Reviews simple and intermediary tax returns . Prepares and reviews responses to IRS/State tax notices and correspondence. Effectively communicates with clients - answers questions , gathers necessary information for tax return and other projects, etc. Consults with client and uses tax law knowledge to provide tax planning guidance. Provides advisory services to clients. Manages multiple client engagements completing them on time and within budget. R esearch es technical tax issues related to return preparation. Develops tax law expertise . Develops and maintains technical competencies and other skills . Actively seeks out and p articipates in training and continuing education opportunities. Has a solid understanding of the Firm's services . L istens for and identifies opportunities for the Firm to provide additional services to clients. Assists with training and mentoring others. Protects the confidentiality of client and Firm information. May assist with providing other client services such as payroll and/or bookkeeping . Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite , Ultra Tax, Accounting CS, QuickBooks or related software . Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and handle pressure in a positive and professional manner. Excellent critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills. Actively participates in organizational meetings and discussions . Strong desire to learn new skills. Ability to effectively prioritize and work independently or as part of a team . Ability to thrive in a changing work environment. Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in Accounting, B usiness, or related field with at least t wo years of related experience ; o r Associates degree in Accounting or Business , or related field with at least five years of related experience; or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience . T wo years of t ax preparation experience required . Three years tax experience in publ ic accounti ng, preferred.
