Position Description:
Calico is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join and lead discovery research projects in the Lu group. We are looking for a researcher passionate about delving into novel research areas, including pioneering targets and technologies. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in our discovery research team, collaborate with multi-disciplinary scientists at Calico, and be instrumental in advancing Calico's aging research and drug development endeavors. This individual will also be essential in uncovering, validating, and deeply understanding the aging mechanisms of the immune system and related diseases.
Position Requirements:
* Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, or related areas
* Hands-on experience with in vivo techniques, including mouse handling, drug injection, tissue harvest, and isolation of immune cells
* Hands-on experience with immunology and cell biology techniques (multi-color flow cytometry, RNA/DNA extraction, PCR, Western Blot, ELISA, small molecule/biologics interventional assays)
* Must be willing to work onsite at least four days per week
Nice to have:
* Demonstrate technical expertise in the following areas: multi-color flow cytometry, primary immune cell culture, and animal models
* Demonstrate expertise in immunology and/or aging as evidenced with strong publications and/or patents
* Direct experience with T cell development and homeostasis by understanding T cell signaling pathways is a plus
* Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
The estimated base salary range for this role is $127,000 - $135,000. Actual pay will be based on a number of factors including experience and qualifications. This position is also eligible for two annual cash bonuses.
