12 Month Position Details: Summary of Duties:
The successful candidate for the Scholarly assistant professor will be responsible for developing coursework and certificate programs to strengthen the entomology program's ability to meet baseline goals for teaching in our unit.
They would be expected to maintain a 50% teaching load while dedicating the remaining time to developing certificate programs, assisting with administrative tasks and other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: By the date of hire, earned Ph.D. in entomology or a closely related field, with depth in the discipline and enough knowledge to develop accurate and complete courses for the department.
Demonstrated record of accomplishments in teaching commensurate with career level.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with technical and general audiences in oral and written forms;
Record of competitive grant success commensurate with career level;
Ability to work within State guidelines to create new course and degree offerings at the university level.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work effectively with individuals and groups of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and ideologies.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Temporary End Date:


This is a temporary, non-tenure track position expected to end on July 1, 2027 . Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
