Position Summary: Serve as a dedicated business development resource within the SBA & USDA government guaranteed business lending department, responsible for procuring new SBA and USDA loan volume. Target loans will range from $500,000 to $10,000,000.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prospects, markets, structures, and originates new SBA 7(a), USDA, and occasionally SBA 504 loans with added focus on structures maximizing premium income through secondary market sales Meets with prospective borrowers, analyze financial information, and prepare loan transmittals for underwriting. Collect a full financial package from the borrower and act as the point of contact when following up on information from various sources Work within the SBA department to assist and facilitate the credit review, approval and documentation processes. Monitor and assist with the disbursement period, if applicable Maintain knowledge of Bank lending policy, as well as SBA and USDA standard operating procedures Achieves production levels exclusively through individual business development results and relative community involvement activities Annual SBA loan volume and premium income goals to be determined each calendar year Identifies, refers and introduces other business opportunities to internal product partners and other target market business lines Reinforces the application of superior customer service through his or her own example along with appropriate follow through with involved customers and employees. Treats people with respect, keeps commitments; inspires the trust of others, works ethically and with integrity, upholds organizational values; accepts responsibility for own actions. Maintains supportive working relationships with referral sources, applicants, borrowers and internal Bank employees Ensures that all activities and work functions comply with compliance requirements as defined in company policies and procedures and state/federal laws and regulations, and the SBA's standard operating procedures (SOP), and the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), thus protecting continued status as a Preferred Lender under the PLP program. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to type, file or lift office supplies up to 20 pounds. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear. Travel Travel within designated areas assigned to the the Business Development Officer. Required Qualifications: High School diploma or Banking/Finance certifications through ABA, WBA, and/or equivalent preferred. Minimum 5 years of SBA business development origination success or related experience as defined below: Work related experience must consist of business development or sales experience in the financial industry, preferably in SBA. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, is required to be applicable to the financial industry. History of producing annual commercial loan production in excess of $8,000,000 preferred. Strong computer skills with an emphasis on utilizing Word and Excel software programs. Ability to travel within designated areas the Business Development Officer will cover. Knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations. K nowledge of SBA standard operating procedures, small business credit process, laws and regulations. Formal C & I credit underwriting training preferred. Demonstrated ability to critically think, formulate and support credit decisions, and logically defend positions. Demonstrated ability to negotiate on behalf of the Bank and the borrower while appropriately balance risk and shareholder value. Knowledge of Fair Lending, Bank Secrecy Act, and other applicable anti-money laundering laws and regulations and Bank policies. Knowledge of business and contract laws. Ability to quickly learn and understand the Bank policies and procedures, and the Bank's products and services.
