Roles and Responsibilities:
This position is a part of Vanitas Manufacturers Inc. Quality Department. Under the supervision of the Compliance Manager the Safety Inspector is responsible for serving as the designated health & safety leader and implement a consistent program, while ensuring compliance with company safety standards, OSHA, and Cal/OSHA standards. Responsible for teaching, mentoring, and guiding the operations leadership team to execute Company policy, identify best practices and implement those best practices. Provide leadership to drive continuous improvement in health and safety performance, while assuring comprehensive operational compliance. Essential roles and responsibilities for this position include conducting safety assessments, PPE assessments, completing safety inspection reports, safety work orders, working with key personnel in other departments within the organization, assist with potential safety related hazards and issues that may arise.

Duties:
1. Develop, improve, and maintain Health & Safety Programs. 2. Data entry and filing. 3. Record keeping (safety inspection reports and other safety related records). 4. Communicate with other department heads as needed. 5. Issue, monitor, and close safety related work orders. 6. Conduct safety and PPE assessments at all Vanitas sites/work areas. Travel locally to Vanita sites. 7. Prepare daily/weekly safety inspection reports. 8. Establish OFIs and suggest CAPAs for safety related issues. 9. Keep compliance and safety boards up to date at each site (posting copies of permits, certificates, licenses). 10. Assist with safety violations and remedies in response to external inspections/audits. 11. Report all discrepancies to company authority. 12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
• Associate's degree in safety, occupational health, or a related field and/or a minimum of 2 years'+ experience in health and safety. • First Aid & CPR certificate preferred. • Knowledge of health and safety programs, such as the equipment Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) Program preferred. • Strong communication, observation, organization, and prioritization skills. • In-depth knowledge of safety procedures, safety regulations, and industry standards. • Good technical and IT skills. • Excellent communication and listening skills (Bi-lingual: English / Spanish)

Preferred Skills:
• Good oral and written communication skills (Bi-lingual: English / Spanish) • Ability to compose Health & Safety Programs. • Basic knowledge of MS-Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, Outlook). • Ability to lift, stand or walk constantly all shift as needed. • Ability to work independently handling large volumes of work and changing priorities as needed. • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment. • Demonstrated leadership ability. • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and positive team building attitude.

Work Environment:
The Safety Inspector is designated to work primarily in the Production area of operations. The work environment can be fast paced, with constant changes and interruptions. The work requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and office equipment. Additionally, the work will require walking, climbing stairs, bending and occasional lifting of material up to fifty (50) pounds. The performance of this position will present exposure to an industrial environment and requires support and compliance with the published Company PPE policy including but not limited to the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, appropriate attire, safety shoes, hearing protection, etc. It may also involve exposure to hot and cold temperatures, noise, limited dust, and chemicals and require adherence to safety regulations operations. Safety Inspector may need to work long hours to meet deadlines and resolve issues.

Additional Notes:
Must be able to provide documentation of being legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis and not in need of now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.
