Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Division of Infectious Diseases, is seeking a highly motivated Researcher III to study vaccine specific immunity in humans. Processing human blood and tissue will be required in this position. The ideal candidate will work with a high degree of organization and independence and oversee projects within the laboratory as well as assume responsibility for the day to day operation of lab activities.
Some weekends and/or off hours work expected. General Responsibilities As directed: To independently set up and perform experiments and procedures in support of lab goals. To collect, enter, summarize, and analyze data. To monitor results, detect and report unusual outcomes and suggest modifications. To develop and improve techniques for the lab. Key Duties & Responsibilities Sets up and performs experiments and procedures in support of lab goals. Develops and improves techniques for the lab. Contributes to planning/design of studies. Collects, enters, summarizes and analyzes data. Monitors results, detects and reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications. May assist in planning long or short term goals/fiscal management. Performs maintenance of lab equipment and supplies. Performs other duties as assigned. Annual Salary Range $35,570.00 - $59,800.00
Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field OR Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Associate's degree in a related field and four (4) years of related experience Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Preferences Experience in cell culture, flow cytometry, use of PRISM, Canvas, FlowJo software, ELISA, ELISPOT assays will be favorably considered. Prior experience working with human specimens including blood and tissue processing. Experience with IRB protocol renewal/development. Key Skills Attention to detail. Skilled with analyzing experimental data and planning experimental designs .
