Research Associate.Research.Associate - Full-Time Geology and Environmental Sciences - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (******** )

Job Summary: The Department of Geology and Environmental Science at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship position in reactive transport modeling. Working closely with the Earth Surface Geochemistry (ESG) group, led by Prof. Evan Ramos, the postdoctoral fellow will contribute to a recently funded Department of Energy grant that seeks to improve our understanding of organic matter stability and organo-mineral interactions at the watershed scale with novel isotope tracers (e.g., Li isotopes). They will be tasked with implementing Li isotope transfer and new reaction networks for organo-mineral interactions in DOE-supported reactive transport modeling software (e.g., CrunchFlow). Opportunities for laboratory and field work are available but not required. As an active member of ESG, they will spearhead collaborative research that leads to the publication of peer-reviewed articles, contribute to grant and proposal writing, and help train graduate and undergraduate students.
Position Details: The position is funded full-time for two years. It is housed within the Department of Geology and Environmental Science at the University of Pittsburgh in coordination with Prof. Evan Ramos. The annual salary starts at a rate of $60,000 and includes a strong benefits package of health/dental/vision coverage as well as optional access to other university benefits. Remote work options may be possible. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2024.
