Responsibilities
• Provides independent care to unit specific patient population• Serves as clinical resource for others• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care• Assists in team development and evaluation of Patient and Family Centered Care• Participates in collection of data related to outcomes• Participates and contributes to Performance Improvement, Evidence Based Practice, or research• Supports charge nurse decisions• Assists in the development of clinical practice protocols and standards• Serves as preceptor, coach, mentor to new nurses and students• Contributes to ancillary personnel skills and development
Requirements
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Maryland or eligible to practice under Compact state agreements• One year nursing experience• Solid knowledge and clinical skills• Diploma or Associate's Degree in nursing• Current BLS certification• Unit based licensure as required• Maintenance of 10 contact hours of education every two years• Recent applicable clinical experience• Ability to practice and adhere to guidelines specified in the Role of the Professional Nurse Job Charter/Description• Demonstrates highly effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills• Demonstrates leadership qualities• Ability to learn and use computer systems• Ability to participate in team-building efforts• Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patient population• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development• Ensures patient safety in job functions and through participation in patient safety initiatives• Implements policies, procedures, and standards consistently• Develops effective working relationships and maintains good communication• Identifies possible risks and communicates to those in charge
