Developing and maintaining a strategy for full life-cycle management of records, including inventory, records scheduling, and disposal. Provide full lifecycle records management to include information inventory and schedule services for all records, regardless of media (electronic systems, databases, spreadsheets, microfilm, photo, hard copy paper, and all other formats), including those documenting the mission, programs, projects, and all administrative functions. Provide digitizing services to further facilitate the migration of legacy paper records to electronic files that can be preserved and managed in an Electronic Records Management System (ERMS). Ensure temporary physical storage for paper and other hard copy media records are maintained in an orderly fashion which meets National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) requirements and CBP/ USBP directives. Aid with preparation of a format for e-records storage to aid in simplifying capture, preservation, and final disposition. Assist with transfer of on-site electronic archives to NARA, as appropriate and recommend to Records Officers when any collection of records can be dispositioned using an alternative method. Maintain records disposal process, to include review, document and track all disposal forms. assist federal staff in the transfer of collections to Federal Records Center and/or other approved off-site records storage facilities as required. Provide training and consulting needed to ensure that information retention and disposition policies and processes are interpreted and applied consistently enterprise-wide through-out the records management lifecycle. Maintain and manage records and provide adequate and proper documentation of work accomplishments. Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in records management.
Detailed knowledge of NARA, FRC, and public law records management directives and regulations pertaining to Records Management and knowledge of information security policy to comply with security of classified information.
Skill in interpreting policy and guidelines to determine the applicability and requirements of the agency. Ability to interpret directives, regulations and policies. Experience with Electronic Records/Document Repository Systems (ERDS) and Vital Records Understands and able to analyze and evaluate information to determine accuracy and make recommendations to improve operations and/or meet business objectives. Ability to plan, organize and direct team-task efforts. Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders. Ability to effectively solve problems. Excellent organizational and communications skills, both verbal and written. A true team player who maintains a positive attitude in a dynamic environment. Ability to pass a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance abuse, and employment verifications; active U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation preferred.
