Job SummaryUnder general direction of the Director of Operations and daily direction of the Receiving and Mail Services Lead, the Incumbent provides support for the Receiving and Mail Services operation by handling shipments to and from campus, staging, sorting and delivering shipments. Key ResponsibilitiesReceiving, staging/storing, metering, delivering or shipments - Receives shipments (packages, mail, overnight deliveries, perishables, etc.) to campus from vendors and USPS utilizing appropriate tools and equipment. Logs shipments into PeopleSoft and/or tracking system when required and tags shipments for property if the asset received by Receiving & Mail Services is capitalized or sensitive. Sorts and stages all received shipments, including inter-office mail, and packages from other Operations Departments, in preparation for centralized delivery.Customer Service - Assists Receiving & Mail Services customers with shipments to and from campus as they walk in, call or email.• Incumbent verifies receipts for insured, certified, and registered mail and looks up shipments/ mail to ensure proper sorting/staging.Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesWorking knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used in receiving, storing, packing, and shipping of materials and mail. Ability to keep receiving, shipping and inventory records; rapidly learn and apply CSU procurement practices, procedures and materials specifications; plan and oversee the work of others; forecast supply needs of routine items; prepare simple reports; read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; make mathematical calculations; and, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with suppliers, CSU employees and others.Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."Education and ExperienceEquivalent to two years of experience in a storeroom or warehouse in the performance of work involving the receipt, storage, and issuance of a variety of supplies, material, and equipment required.Physical SummaryHeavy work - Job involves lifting more than 40 pounds.
