Hire Resolve's client, a leading engineering consulting firm, is seeking a talented Rail Bridge Engineer to join their team in Kansas City, MO.
As a Rail Bridge Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of rail bridge projects and collaborate with a team of experienced professionals.
Responsibilities Create and compare different design options for new railroad bridges and culverts, considering any rules that might affect building permits. Finish the design work for railroad structures like bridges, culverts, and walls. Come up with repair plans for existing railroad structures. Prepare detailed documents (Plans, Specifications, and Estimates) that clearly describe the work needed, can be bid on by contractors, and focus on safety and ease of construction. Evaluate how strong existing railroad structures are and report on the findings. Attend meetings with a supervisor or designated person to discuss design projects, which often involve talking to people from client companies. Oversee projects from start to finish, making sure that our design work meets our clients' needs and minimizes any disruptions to train services. Stay up to date with safety training required for working on railroads. Requirements MS Degree in Structural Engineering (equivalent to 1 year of experience). Membership and involvement in AREMA committees. Over 5 years of railroad structure design experience. Minimum 4 years of bridge design experience, railway preferred. Holds an active Professional Engineer's License. Proficiency in CSI SAP2000 for structural modeling. Experience with Mathcad and MS Excel for calculations and reports. Strong MS Office skills, including Excel Macros. Strong organizational and communication skills with a positive attitude. Willingness to travel and commitment to personal growth. Understanding of structural analysis and design specifications (AREMA/AASHTO LRFD). Ability to use engineering judgment efficiently. Skilled in structural analysis and drafting software.
