Description SEWS—El Paso Customer Service Center (Eastside).Although located at SEWS – El Paso Office, this is a Hybrid position, which combines both in office and off-site work.Associates are required to work at least two days in the office each week, but also have the flexibility to work off-site.
Job Title Quality Engineer II 1. Coordinate and lead new component quality development as well as approval activities with suppliers to meet customer multiple OEM and internal Sumitomo quality requirements.
2. Coordinate PPAP activities for new components for customer directed, preferred suppliers that do not use SEWS owned tooling.
3. Coordinate with suppliers and internal Sumitomo departments (Program Management, Quality, Procurement, Engineering, Mfg plants) for delivery of PPAP approval, and other quality control items as required.
4. Support supplier audits and new component evaluation activity.
5. Support for supplier selection activities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate PPAP activities for new components and suppliers.Coordinate evaluation of new components to meet both customer and internal requirements Educate and provide developmental support to assure suppliers understand SEWS expectations and quality system requirements.As needed, evaluate component samples in the evaluation labIdentify missing PPAPs per new project new component list; request PPAPs from suppliers; process and approve PPAPs.Investigate, analyze and track countermeasure activity for new suppliers and new components.Perform various types of audits at supplier facilities (Pre-production audits, Tool review audits, new supplier audits). Travel is up to 30% and largely North America.Plan, organize and implement activities to assure the quality of new components and materials not developed and controlled by SEWS.Maintain records of supplier quality activity.Qualifications B.S degree in engineering field required. (BSEE, BSME preferred)3 - 5 yrs. experience in Quality Engineering - experience in auto industry components development a plus.English or Spanish bilingual preferred.Team oriented person with good communication skills and strong motivation to challenging tasks.Capable of multi-tasking (product maturation/planning/component evaluation/writing procedures/etc.).Fluent with MicrosoftOffice products especially Excel (intermediate or advanced) and PowerPoint.About Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc.
