Overview:
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Mortgage Quality Control Underwriter to join our team. As a Mortgage QC Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that residential mortgage loans adhere to all relevant guidelines at the time of closing. Your focus will be on evaluating the three pillars of underwriting: Credit, Capacity, and Collateral, with the aim of identifying any deficiencies that could impact the saleability of loans.
Responsibilities:
- Gather essential loan data for our proprietary review systems to facilitate the underwriting process.
- Develop concise and clear QC loan summaries, highlighting any issues and providing explanations.
- Classify review findings based on severity and their potential impact on loan saleability.
- Conduct both pre-closing and post-closing reviews.
- Perform desk reviews of loan appraisals and other valuation decisions.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions & Requirements:
Required Education & Work Experience:
- Preferred minimum of five years of experience in the mortgage industry, with a focus on Underwriting, Third Party Review Due Diligence, or QC/QA functions.
- High School Diploma/GED required; some college preferred. Bachelor's degree in finance or banking is advantageous.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac lending guidelines.
- Familiarity with a range of loan products, including Alt A, Jumbo, Subprime, QM, and non-QM lending.
- Knowledge of FHA, VA, and USDA loan products.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Ability to articulate loan defects professionally and concisely.
- Proficiency in multitasking and navigating various programs and applications.
- Comfortable working independently to manage workflow and priorities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to security policies.
