Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. or a Psy.D. in clinical psychology, school psychology, or counseling psychology from an APA and/or CPA accredited program, internship training, and minimum 1-year post-doctoral training in pediatric psychology or neuropsychology is required. Applicant must be license-eligible in the state of Minnesota Strong diagnostic skills required, including extensive experience assessing children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. Strong skills in clinical interviewing and engaging caregivers and families in assessments Excellent organizational skills, strong oral and written communication skills and computer proficiency are required. We are particularly interested in individuals who want to contribute to clinical research on neurodevelopmental disabilities including autism, rare disorders, and ADHD. Research-level training on diagnostic measures for autism, including ADOS and Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R). Must be willing to train to reliability on both measures. Interest in working with individuals with complex presentations (e.g., severe to profound intellectual disability, significant behavioral or mental health needs). The University of Minnesota is seeking a psychologist or neuropsychologist to join our expanding clinical research team specializing in the characterization of neurodevelopment and neurodevelopmental disabilities. This position is housed within the Center for Neurobehavioral Development at the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain (MIDB). The MIDB has an extensive neurodevelopmental research program and brings together researchers, clinicians and educators, as well as policy and public health experts with the goal of addressing early and adolescent brain health to maximize their collective impact and increase the speed of discovery.
This position involves overseeing and conducting behavioral phenotyping activities within the Center for Neurobehavioral Development, providing consultation and execution on appropriate cognitive and behavioral assessments to describe children and measure their growth. The position includes opportunities to contribute to or develop research or training programs to support the work at MIDB.
Responsibilities
Provide psychological and neuropsychological evaluation of children and adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities, including autism, rare disorders, ADHD, and those with behavioral and mental health needs. Provide supervision and training to trainees and staff administering assessments. Organizational oversight of child life services at MIDB. Perform evaluations, written and oral feedback to families, related providers, and schools regarding test results and recommendations for treatment and educational planning. Provide training to faculty, trainees, and research staff on assessment administration and interpretation. Provide consultation to research groups on best practices in assessment, including maximizing child engagement and comfort during research protocols, selection of measures, and interpretation of measures. Contribute to research analysis and dissemination, including writing and contributing to manuscripts, grant proposals, and scientific presentations. Collaboratively work as a positive, constructive team member. Additional job activities include conducting various outreach activities for community partners and participating in seminars and other didactic experiences. The Center for Neurobehavioral Development is one of MIDB's Service Hubs. MIDB Service Hubs are centralized, shared resources composed of experts from labs, institutes, and research centers across the University. Hubs operate interdependently to provide support and expertise for neurodevelopmental research: integrating data collection, management, analytics, translation, and implementation services under one roof. The Center for Neurobehavioral Development Clinical Research Center facilitates an interdisciplinary approach to brain research by providing researchers with behavioral phenotyping services and consultation, equipment, technical support, and state-of-the-art research space.
