Title: Project Manager/Estimator - Mass Excavation
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Project Manager/Estimator to join our team at a mass excavation company specializing in residential and commercial mass earthwork projects. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in both project management and estimating, with a deep understanding of the local market dynamics. Preference will be given to applicants familiar with the area and current market trends.
Responsibilities:
* Project Management:
* Oversee all aspects of project execution, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
* Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met on time and within budget.
* Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, address issues, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
* Estimating:
* Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for mass excavation projects, considering labor, equipment, materials, and overhead costs.
* Analyze project specifications and drawings to determine project requirements and scope of work.
* Utilize market knowledge and historical data to develop cost-effective pricing strategies and maximize profitability.
* Bid Preparation and Negotiation:
* Lead the bid preparation process, including reviewing bid documents, soliciting subcontractor quotes, and preparing bid proposals.
* Negotiate contracts and pricing with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to secure profitable projects.
* Client Relations:
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing concerns, providing updates, and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
* Market Analysis:
* Stay informed about local market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes affecting the construction industry.
* Identify new business opportunities and potential clients to expand the company's market presence.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management and estimating, with a focus on mass excavation projects.
* Strong knowledge of construction methods, earthwork principles, and industry best practices.
* Familiarity with local market conditions, subcontractor capabilities, and pricing benchmarks.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
* Proficiency in construction estimating software and project management tools.
* Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities.
