SummaryThe Wikimedia Foundation is looking for a Project Manager for the Communications department of the Wikimedia Foundation. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Program Management, you will work closely with multiple teams and departments on projects that support the Foundation's annual plan and its related strategies. Your work will help to support and extend the capabilities of the 50+ members of Wikimedia's Communications department. You will project manage cross-team initiatives and support our collective work, liaising regularly with and across the Communications department's teams, and acting as a supportive project partner to writers, designers, marketers, PR/media, and movement communications specialists.This is a remote position working with colleagues in the USA, the UK, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Southeast Asia.You are responsible for:Collaborating closely with the Senior Manager of Program Management and assisting the department's project managers on various projects, initiatives, and campaignsTriaging incoming work requests in Asana, ensuring that projects are picked up by appropriate teams and individuals, assisting with, and tracking their progress to completion Creating project roadmaps, assisting with negotiating project scopes, establishing project team norms, helping to define team roles and responsibilities and decision-making frameworks, identifying stakeholders, scheduling regular project meetings, and determining and clearly communicating roadblocks, challenges, and dependencies.Supporting healthy team dynamics and a culture that welcomes diverse perspectives while driving multiple, smaller projects to completionDocumenting project work and running retros to identify best practices that lead to dependable, successful, on-time completion Tracking and reporting relevant qualitative and quantitative metricsEnsuring individuals and teams understand their commitments to goals and to each other; upholding a culture of belonging and accountabilityHelping project teams balance challenging work and workloads against the tendency toward scope creep and perfectionism Skills and Experience:2+ years of experience in project management, or related roles2+ years of experience working remotely with a distributed teamExperience using Asana, our project management software, and the Google suiteStrong project management skills: prioritization, organization, planning, time management, stakeholder management, facilitation, problem solving, and decision-makingFamiliarity and comfort with different communication styles, experience with various cultures and projects crossing multiple time zonesAbility to anticipate risks, build relationships and trust, influence without authority, and effectively enforce accountabilityDependable and flexible interpersonal communication skillsExperience and comfort with ambiguityQualities that are important to us:Mission-driven—belief in the Wikimedia mission. The anticipated annual pay range of this position for applicants based within the United States is US$70,210to US$108,239with multiple individualized factors, including cost of living in the location, being the determinants of the offered pay.
