Project Engineer, Paralleling Switchgear Sales Work Mode: Remote
Location: Remote at Kohler, WI
Opportunity The primary responsibility of the Project Engineer – Paralleling Switchgear Sales is preparing detailed technical quotations and providing design support for the Kohler Power Systems' Paralleling Switchgear product line. Other responsibilities include offering technical design and application assistance to both the Kohler Power Systems direct sales team and the distribution network. This includes product application, specification interpretation, and quotation support. Additionally, the role involves reviewing and processing orders. The ideal candidate must be capable of turning ambiguous requests into solutions for customers.
Specific Responsibilities Prepare Proposals for Kohler Paralleling Switchgear:
Develop detailed and accurate quotations for paralleling switchgear projects, ensuring all customer requirements are addressed. Collaborate effectively with suppliers to price necessary components and ensure the completeness of proposed solutions. Provide comprehensive solutions that meet customer needs and specifications. Review Specifications and Provide Value Engineering:
Thoroughly review customer-provided specifications and drawings to understand project requirements. Prepare quotations and initial drawings based on the interpretation of specifications, ensuring alignment with customer needs. Offer value-engineered alternatives where feasible to optimize project cost and performance. Support Kohler Field Sales Team and Distribution Sales Teams:
Assist the field sales team in selecting appropriate KPS products to fulfill customer requirements, leveraging technical expertise. Offer guidance during the initial design stage to ensure alignment with project needs and specifications. Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to develop comprehensive project requirements, drawings, and specifications. Order Processing and Engineering Coordination:
Upon receipt of customer orders, meticulously review them for completeness and accuracy. Transfer order requirements promptly and accurately to engineering for further processing and production. Ensure seamless transition of orders from sales to engineering and project management teams, maintaining clear communication throughout. Provide Staff Consulting and Support:
Offer expert technical guidance and support to marketing and engineering personnel on paralleling switchgear products and solutions. Assist in forecasting sales trends and providing strategic insights to support business growth initiatives. Share valuable insights and recommendations to enhance product development and marketing strategies. Stay Updated with Product Development: Stay abreast of Kohler Power Systems' product development initiatives by actively reviewing published reports, technical data, and industry trends. Remain informed about advancements in paralleling switchgear technology and relevant industry standards to maintain a competitive edge. Serve as Paralleling Switchgear Engineering Expert:
Act as the primary engineering expert for Kohler Power Systems' paralleling switchgear products, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge. Possess in-depth understanding of KPS products, including generators, ATS, and paralleling switchgear, along with relevant codes and standards such as NEC, IEEE, UL, IBC, etc. Provide guidance on overall on-site power system design and integration principles to ensure seamless integration of KPS products. Prepare and deliver technical and marketing presentations to distribution and end customers regarding Kohler Paralleling switchgear. Develop Strategic Supplier Partnerships:
Identify and cultivate strategic supplier partnerships to enhance KPS's ability to offer complete system solutions to customers. Collaborate closely with suppliers to optimize product offerings and ensure compatibility with KPS product Skills/Requirements Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering preferred. A minimum of 5 years of successful technical sales experience is required. Must have the ability to read, interpret, and define compliance to parallel generation specifications using specification text, sequence of operations, and electrical diagrams. Understand and expertise on the utility requirements for parallel operations. Understand the capabilities and limits of PLC systems as applied to paralleling power systems projects, including communication protocol. Technical fluency regards component hardware including circuit breakers, ground fault systems, protective relays, and governing systems as required to meet UL, CSA and IEE codes', fostering long-term relationships. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future. The salary range for this position is $83,300 - $105,200. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
