The Position
Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents recommend and implement changes to work plans, program performance standards and objectives for providing services, and eligibility requirements as permitted by program regulations and guidelines; and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or a staff consisting of several students, volunteers and/or contract staff.
Department of Education Office of Assessment, Data, and Accountability Management. Successful candidates will have experience coordinating programs across multiple stakeholders. Successful candidates will need a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and use Department communication tools to disseminate necessary information to inform users of upcoming events, policies, procedures, best practices and required regulations. Position will manage communication between the Assessment office and LEAs including the archiving of forms, memos, and guidance. Successful candidates will have a working knowledge of the practices and procedures necessary to ensure that all documents meet the rigorous standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines for accessibility. This position will require the candidate to have knowledge of Nevada Education law. Successful candidates will act as coordinator between stakeholders to resolve discrepancies between regulations, policies, and processes. To see full Class Specifications visit: To Qualify In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements: Qualifications Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or other discipline related to the program assignment; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of para-professional program support experience equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service which required the application of State and/or federal laws, policy and procedures; reviewing documents prepared by others for program compliance determinations; or preparing reports which summarize financial and statistical information; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A State of Nevada/FBI fingerprint based background check is required as a condition of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
