We're seeking a Pipeline Strategy and Asset Landscape Analysis Intern to join us in our mission to revolutionize drug discovery through the use of breakthrough computational methods applied to drug design.As a member of our Pipeline Opportunity Assessment and Strategy team, you'll review literature and other data sources to assess therapeutic landscapes and identify new target opportunities while developing recommendations for ongoing drug discovery programs. The internship will last for a minimum of twelve weeks.Our drug discovery group of over 80 scientists includes biologists, structural biologists, modelers, computational chemists, medicinal chemists, and crystallographers with decades of combined drug discovery experience. The group is supported by more than 100 software developers and engineers, and our company has co-founded several biotech companies leading to exciting therapeutics and approaches, such as Nimbus (TYK2i acquisition by Takeda), Morphic Therapeutic (Phase 2 first-in-modality integrin inhibitor for IBD), and Structure Therapeutics (structure-based GPCR company). Five of the programs Schrödinger has worked on in the past seven years have progressed into the clinic and one has received FDA approval.  Who will love this job:A self-motivated polymath who's excited about analyzing therapeutic area landscapes,identifying unmet needs, and generating new target opportunities for Schrödinger's drug discovery groupA life science and/or biotech enthusiastAn excellent verbal and written communicator with exceptional organizationalA team player who's comfortable working across departments and disciplines What you'll do:Perform landscape analysis of therapeutic area(s) to identify unmet medical needs in the patient population; best practices for diagnosis and standards of care, etiology, and epidemiology; and key molecular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis and treatment of diseaseSurvey the competitive landscape to identify emerging trends in treatment options, compare safety and efficacy data for clinical stage assets, and outline any promising novel targets and/or modalitiesIdentify and reach out to key opinion leaders (KOLs) and synthesize insights to support recommendationsBuild target proposal packages, including therapeutic rationale, target patient population, competitive landscape, deal analyses, strengths/weaknesses and opportunities/threats, risks, etc. for targets that are fit for Schrödinger's drug discovery platformCollaborating with different teams across the company and presenting proposals to leadership teamsWhat you should have:Bachelor's, MS, or ongoing PhD in a life science-related field; medical students; or business management/MBA students with relevant experienceExperience in identifying new biological targets and unmet needs for therapeutic indications via primary and secondary sourcesPrior experience/internships in life sciences startups, venture capital, equity research, company creation, and/or consultingSome experience with one or more of the following is preferred: immunology, small molecule drug discovery, target validation, molecular pharmacologyCover Letter Please tell us in one page why you're a fit for this role and why you'd like to join Schrödinger's internship program. Actual compensation package is dependent on a number of factors, including, for example, experience, education, degrees held, market data, and business needs.
