State of ArkansasPosition InformationClass Code: G205CGrade: GS06FLSA Status: EXEMPTSalary Range: $36,155.00 - $52,425.00SummaryThe Park Program Specialist is responsible for supervising staff and administering museum programming for museum special events, on-site programs, outreach programs, and other special events. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.FunctionsSupervises a medium sized staff by interviewing, recommending staff for hire/fire, assigning and reviewing work, counseling, and evaluating the performance of incumbents. Develops park museum on-site and outreach programs, special events, lesson plans, tours, and teacher resource materials. Presents programs to visitors and educational groups. Greets visitors; provides information and assistance; interprets park rules and regulations to staff and visitors. Maintains inventory records to ensure accuracy and assists in budget preparation. Researches and prepares programmatic reports and recommends changes as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.DimensionsNoneKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of program development techinques. Knowledge of research techniques and procedures. Knowledge of administrative office management and supervisory techniques. Ability to prepare educational, promotional, and research materials and develop museum interpretive programs. Ability to write, edit, and present programmatic information. Ability to plan, organize, and oversee the work of subordinates. Ability to schedule, plan, and oversee events. Ability to coordinate acquisitions and maintain inventory. Ability to prepare cost estimates for budget preparation.Minimum QualificationsThe formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, business, or related field; plus one year of experience in public relations, crafts, folk music, or a related field, including six months in a leadership capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
