S&B is looking for an experienced Onsite Process Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will work on site at the client's facility participating with plant operations to support the operation of the plant and on engineering projects from original concept to construction closeout, this includes working with other members of the on site Design/Engineering Team as well as other on site discipline groups within the facility. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Identify and monitor Key Process Indicators to sustain optimal plant operations and deliver on production, yield, and cost targets. Main focus will be to assist plant Operations in successfully operating the process unit. This will include raw material usages and tracking, yield conversions, and troubleshooting process issues as they arise. Provide accurate, timely forecasts to Plant Finance to help meet financial commitments. Interpret the health of the production system using PI and other data collection processes. Participate in site HSE and Process Safety Management programs, including: Management of Change, Process Hazard Analysis, Root Cause Analysis/Incident Investigations, and development of Standard Operating Procedures. Identify and monitor Key Process Indicators to sustain optimal plant operations and deliver on production, yield, and cost targets. Develop and execute productivity projects to improve baseline safety, quality, production, and cost performance. Assist in developing capital project scopes of work and associated process packages to improve or maintain unit operations. Bridge multiple layers of organization between management and front-line workers to deliver plant safety and production objectives. Mentor and train operations staff on unit design and intended/optimal operation. Assist Operations department in troubleshooting plant operational issues. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline (Mechanical and Chemical preferred, but not required) This is an entry level position up to 10 years' experience, responsibilities may vary some depending on experience, some of the value items below may not be applicable to Industry entry level engineers. VALUED QUALITIES OF CANDIDATE Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision Strong interpersonal and communication skills Familiarity in various types of unit operations including reactions, binary distillation, absorption, and handling of highly hazardous materials. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills with typical chemical process equipment (Pumps, kilns, dryers, instrumentation, utilities, etc.) Familiarity with HS&E regulations and life critical safety tools such as Lock-out/Tag-out, Line Break, and Hot Work permits and procedures. Able to work safely among highly hazardous materials and wear all required PPE including chemical resistant clothing and respiratory protection, as required. Conduct field trips as necessary to gather operating data and equipment information required to develop the project scope. This requires normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.
All candidates must pass background checks, drug screening (i.e., cheek swab and breath alcohol test, hair follicle drug test) security passport background check and ability to obtain a TWIC card. And pass client site specific safety training requirements.
