Network Engineer

Position Summary: We are looking for a Network Engineer who will design, implement, and supports our network infrastructure. You will be part of the networking team within IT Operations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Configures and installs network hardware and servicesPerforms network maintenance and upgrades as requiredMonitors overall network and specific network hardware performance and availabilityProvides tier 2 and 3 support to usersFollows all policies and change management procedures to ensure a solid network infrastructureMaintains technical proficiency by reading technical reference manuals and learning from colleaguesWork with vendors and other IT employees when resolving problemsPreserves organizational knowledge by fully documenting processes, symptoms, causes, and solutions for future referenceParticipates in and takes a leadership role in IT projects as neededOther duties as assigned by supervisorREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Experience with Juniper, Cisco, Aruba, and Mist networking and wireless systemsKnowledge of networking protocols (OSPF, BGP, 802.11, DHCP, etc.)Understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP modelGood analytical skillsGood communication skills, written and oralWillingness and aptitude to learn new skills, technologies and processesAbility to work as an individual contributor and as a team playerWillingness to be flexibleAbility to adapt as IT adjusts in its functionalityUnderstanding of the University's goals and objectivesCOMPUTER SKILLS: Microsoft Word and ExcelJuniper or other network certifications a plus#LI-Onsite
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience: One or two years related experience
