The National General Adjuster must be able to work independently or with minimal supervision handling larger and/or complex commercial property claims in a prompt, equitable, and professional manner. The NGA must have the ability to engage and direct experts of all disciplines, analyze coverage, and report accurate estimates of damage while managing all damage components of the loss. The NGA negotiates settlement of assigned claims to conclusion and must be available to assist other adjusters for field assistance as required or necessary.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Examines claims forms, policies, client instructions, and other records to assist their client in determining coverage.  Reviews complex financial data, inventories, contracts, quotes, estimates and other documents, and applies sound adjusting techniques to determine loss amounts as covered by the applicable policy.  Engages and directs experts of all disciplines, analyzes coverage, and reports accurate estimates of damage while managing all damage components of the loss.  Prepares estimates of damage and supporting documents to convey the loss.  Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information required by client, local, state, and federal government, and by McLarens.  Manages support teams or individual adjusters.  Controls claim costs.  Recommends litigation or subrogation when appropriate.  Successfully develops new business and market opportunities.  Maintains company reputation and insurance product integrity by complying with federal and state regulations and corporate quality standards.  Maintains the appropriate licenses as required by the various state Departments of Insurance (DOI).  Performs other duties as instructed by their Director of Operations (DOO). Required Experience & Skills:  4-year college degree or equivalent job experience required. 6+ years of claims adjusting or relevant experience. National or Regional claims experience.  Experience handling complex commercial losses including time element.  In-depth knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements. Ability to evaluate data and formulate claims strategy. Negotiation skills to resolve large claims at minimal cost. Ability to coordinate diverse individuals to resolve claims. Highly organized, with ability to manage work involving large client volume. Strong understanding of claims management technology applications. Appropriate state adjuster license(s). Superior written and oral communication skills. Ability to work well in a team environment. Must have strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Strong negotiation skills required. Some travel is required. Essential Physical Requirements: Travel to inspection sites. (regularly) Move about indoors and outdoors to conduct inspections. (regularly) Ability to position self to inspect confined spaces, ascend and descend stairwells and ladders,  traverse roofs, and work atop roofs. (frequently) Ability to maintain balance while traversing on narrow, slippery, or sloping surfaces. (regularly) May exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly while moving objects. (Regularly) Transport objects weighing up to or exceeding 50 pounds. (regularly) Transport, unfold, and extend OSHA approved ladder which may exceed 50 pounds. (frequently) Ability to operate a laptop/computer, phone, other office productivity machinery (calculator, printer,  etc.), and measuring devices. (regularly) Manual dexterity and coordination to extend hands and arms in various directions, using fingers in  repetitive motion for keyboarding and writing. (regularly) Handle paperwork and files. (regularly) Work Environment: May require working in outdoor weather conditions. (Occasionally) May require working in stationary position.
