Warrington Musical Society
Warrington Musical Society (WMS)
wishes to appoint a new Musical Director (MD) and accompanist, from September 2023, as our current MD/accompanist, James Heathcote, will be leaving in July. Established in the 1830s, WMS is one of the oldest musical societies in England. It is a mixed SATB choir of about 20 members and is administered by a small committee. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings (19.15 - 21.15) around 35 weeks a year at Christ Church School, Padgate, Warrington, WA2 0QJ, and in recent years have performed three concerts each year at Christ Church, Padgate. The items sung by the choir in recent years have included a wide range of music suitable for a chamber choir, including recently Haydn's Nelson Mass and Schubert's Mass in G. We are currently rehearsing various Russian and Ukrainian pieces for a July concert, while our December concert combines Christmas music and readings. We welcome singers of all ages who are prepared to give a high level of commitment to attending rehearsals and taking part in concerts. We do not audition. We use internal and external soloists for some concerts; external soloists are usually recruited from the Royal Northern College of Music.
Musical Director
The MD will work with our accompanist, who will also be newly appointed. We can offer a salary of around £2,150 per annum, paid monthly by direct debit. The MD is required to:

work closely with our accompanist
liaise regularly with the WMS Chair
