ABOUT THE ROLEThe Mine Engineer is an on-site engineering support role for the underground aggregate operations in the Chicago market area. The Mine Engineer assists mine management in ensuring that operations are run in a safe manner, in compliance with all governmental requirements, and in the most efficient and effective way possible. The Mine Engineer is generally responsible for mine planning, special projects as they arise, and federal and state regulatory documentation. The Mine Engineer collaborates with a team of engineers to help optimize other local mining operations.WHAT YOU'LL BE DOINGDemonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.Surveying and mapping of underground mine advance and all appropriate mine featuresShort- and mid-term mine planningMeasuring ventilation quantitiesTracking of mining royaltiesUpdating required MSHA and ATF documentationEnsuring appropriate ground support is implementedAssisting in managing the crew, as requiredCompleting design work and cost analyses for special projects, as requiredObserving and tracking mining conditions and practices for continuous improvementAssisting with safety training and recordkeepingAssisting with greenfielding and other new site developmentProviding technical assistance for mine management, as requiredWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORRequired Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mining EngineerRequired Work Experience: 3 years experienceRequired Computer/Software Skills: Good computer skills, with proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft ExcelAdditional Requirements:Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment, including but not limited to respirators.
