Job Description Embrace the opportunity to positively change someone's life! Join our team as a Direct Support Professional / Caregiver at Dungarvin! A Mental Health Specialist II will work in highly specialized programs serving individuals with intensive, interfering behavioral and mental health needs. 
The persons receiving these services have many of the following characteristics: previously placed in a highly restricted facility, high incidents of crisis situations, high behaviors or anti-social issues, multiple hospitalizations/commitments/institutional stays, and multiple failed placements. Dungarvin group homes have been significantly modified to eliminate safety concerns. The ultimate goal is to empower individuals to live as independently and comfortably as possible while maintaining their dignity and respect.
What You Get to Do:  Provide hands-on assistance, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance. Ensure the comfort, safety, and personal growth of the individuals we serve. Assist with daily living tasks such as moving around, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, personal hygiene and more. Light housekeeping tasks and meal preparation. Build relationships with persons served and teammates. Attend special community occasions and fun activities like outdoor walks, games, and social events. Transport persons served to appointments or other activities outside the home. Empower people with disabilities to live life to the fullest. Document progress, milestones, and action steps. Qualifications Must have a high school diploma or GED Certificate & basic computer skills.  Three years' experience in delivery of significant behavioral health services / previous experience as a Direct Support Professional / Caregiver . Must be able to demonstrate de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution, positive support methods, and person-centered approach with person served who may present significant mental health symptoms, physical and verbal aggression, property destruction, chemical dependence, brain injury, and cognitive impairments. Need the ability to understand and implement behavior support plans, treatment plans, functional assessments, individualized support plans, and person-centered plans. Must be physically fit and be able to stand, squat, bend, or walk for long periods of time. Ability to lift 50lbs is necessary. Ability to communicate effectively, including the ability to read, write, and speak English clearly. Ability to assess situations and make sound judgments when given guidance and priorities. Anticipate possible outcomes of actions and react accordingly. Ability to work as a team member to maintain consistency and quality services; ability to exchange support, constructive criticism, and ideas with others.  Ability to effectively work 1:1 with individuals and within group settings Ability to maintain a positive professional and therapeutic rapport with individuals who struggle with significant behavioral or mental health concerns.
