The Opportunity Black & Veatch is seeking a highly motivated person to function as a support engineer?in the design of mechanical systems supporting Water & Wastewater Treatment processes. ?In this role you will have the opportunity to:
Work collaboratively with various design engineering execution teams across the US and abroad, functioning in a mid-level engineer capacity Perform Mechanical System design for water/wastewater projects.? Perform engineering calculations to develop equipment and system performance parameters for the purpose of sizing equipment.? Coordinate with equipment manufacturers to select the most technically acceptable design solutions.? Follow company and industry design practices in development of designs.? Develop engineering work products including Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs), Mechanical arrangement drawings, and Equipment, Piping, and Valve specifications.?? Review manufacturer's or contractor's submittals, data, reports, etc., for conformance with B&V criteria. Preferred Qualifications Experience in developing detailed project drawings and technical specifications.? Experience with material selection and sizing of piping systems.? Understanding of hydraulic principles.? Professional written and verbal communication skills.? Ideal candidates will have knowledge and experience related to the design, specification, and related engineering tasks associated equipment and systems used in water and wastewater treatment facilities including pumping systems, blowers and aeration systems, anaerobic digestion, heating water boilers, heat exchangers, and steel piping systems.? Minimum Qualifications Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 1 year related work experience All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Certifications It is preferred that the candidate has obtained or is actively pursuing their EIT and plans to pursue their PE (Professional Engineer) license

Our hybrid work approach allows our employees to work two days a week from other locations outside of the office. This opportunity will be based out of our Overland Park, KS office.
