Client work is primarily remote/virtual and includes: Financial Planning, Analysis, and Modeling, Valuations & Capital Raising, Financial, Commercial & Operational Due Diligence, Competitive Strategy, Buy-Side & Sell-Side Advisory, Mergers & Acquisitions, Fractional CFO & Executive (or Interim) Leadership, Operations Performance Improvement, Turnaround & Restructuring, Growth Strategy, Post-Merger Integration.

Role Overview:  

Immediate availability to start.  

This position is being rolled out in 3 phases to ensure compatibility for our boutique consulting firm.  

As a Managing Business Development Consultant, you'll contribute to our firm's growth by supporting business development efforts within the private equity and venture capital industry. Your role involves driving our growth, leveraging your existing network and relationships within the industry, establishing new client leads and identifying and closing high-value consulting engagements with institutional investors.  

Compensation/Role Structure:  

Phase 1 - is a  remote, commission-only, contract position. Compensation is based solely on successfully closing new client engagements for SMG, as a percentage of new client retainers, which range from $50K to $1M+ per engagement.  


You will be expected to successfully close a $50K+ consulting engagement with a new client within the first 30 days of joining Synergy Management Group, leveraging your existing network and relationships within the institutional investor (private equity & venture capital) industry.  

Phase 2 - For engagement supervision of new client engagements that you generate, compensation will be $125-$500+ per hour.  

Phase 3 - Upon successfully closing several new client engagements, compensation can transition to a more traditional model ( e.g. base salary/monthly retainer + commission).  

Key Responsibilities:  

Develop and execute targeted business development strategies to secure consulting engagements ranging from $50K to $1M+ with institutional investors (private equity & venture capital) within our four main service areas (refer to: ).  
Leverage your existing network and relationships and support the identification of new business opportunities within the private equity industry, contributing to lead generation efforts.  
Successfully close new client engagements through effective lead generation, proposal development, negotiation support, and client relationship management.  
Contribute insights and solutions to clients based on your understanding of the private equity landscape.  
Qualifications:  

Minimum of 10 years of senior-level experience within the management consulting and private equity industry at top-tier or boutique firms (e.g., McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, KPMG, PwC, Deloitte, Blackstone, KKR, Carlyle, Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, Accel, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley).  
Extensive network and relationships within the institutional investor ecosystem, particularly in the private equity and venture capital sectors.
Proven track record of identifying and closing $50K-$1M+ consulting engagements with institutional investors.
Strong business development skills, with the ability to convert leads into successful client engagements.  
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.  
Eagerness to learn and grow within the role.  
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
