In this position, you will:Execute all technical aspects of AC power substation projects under the guidance of a Lead Engineer.Work on high voltage substation general arrangement and layouts, plan and elevation drawings, bills of material, arrangements for high voltage bus, cable, high voltage equipment, conduit, cable, and wiring, grounding, and control buildings. Perform related engineering calculations. Coordinate overall design with other design disciplines providing basic single line drawings and schematics, relay protection and control requirements, andWrite high voltage equipment specifications and issuance of material purchase request forms, and vendor quotation evaluation for substation equipment including high voltage circuit breakers, switchgear, disconnects, high voltage power transformers, high voltage cable, and protection and control systems.Resolve project technical issues for the customer and project manager. Work with the project manager and Lead Engineer to maintain project man hour budget and schedule.Participate in a team of engineers and designers, coordinate with sourcing and the project team on technical matters to meet project specifications, cost control, and schedule objectivesInterface with internal and external team members such as Principal engineers, Protection and Control Engineers, Electrical Designers, Physical Designers, Draftsmen, Project managers, and support organizationsWork on developing proposals including writing and/or reviewing technical specifications, estimating materials, supporting sourcing for vendor quotations, directing designers and draftsmen on drawing requirements, and the development of clarifications and exceptions as well as technical responsesSupport engineering automation, productivity projects, and quality initiatives.Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited UniversityAbility and willingness to travel 20%, including international must comply with all relevant company travel and tax policies2 years minimum experience in industrial, renewable, or utility HV & EHV substation designDesired CharacteristicsPrior internship experience A+Strong preference for Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with exposure to and course work in power system design. Passed FE exam, preference for Professional Engineering registrationExperience / working knowledge of applicable design calculations such as battery sizing and DC system component selection, control and power cable selection and rating, bus sizing, fittings, insulator selection, ground grid design, and lightning protectionWork exposure to Transmission and Distribution substation engineering for utilities and renewable energy power plants and projects experience as an Electrical Project Engineer in substation type applications for primary/physical/outdoor design, including aspects of civil design and control and relay protection designKnowledge of and experience using IEEE and ANSI standards and codes such as the NEC and NESCDemonstrated electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capabilityEffective communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work in a team environmentGood presence in front of the customer with demonstrated commercial experience such as Project Management or SalesExcellent personal computer skills, including programming and design automation, and familiarity with AutoCAD, including 3D modelingLegal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
