Advertised Job Summary: Serves as the Systems Administrator for the UofSC School of Medicine Greenville (SOMG). Provides technical consulting for systems configuration and design. Provides support and training for faculty, staff, and students. Maintains documentation and inventory of end user systems, servers, software and network configuration. Demonstrates commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology Systems or related field and 3 years experience in computer systems development and modifications, automated information or communication system design, installation, operation, repair, or equivalency.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with MacOS, iOS, Windows, and Office 365. Previous experience with MDM platforms preferred (Meraki, JAMF, BigFix). Previous experience with VMware Horizon preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of various technology hardware/software and ability to perform advanced troubleshooting. Must be capable of learning and supporting a wide variety of systems and software platforms. Must have the ability to provide courteous customer service to a diverse clientele, including faculty, staff and students. Ability to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.
Job Duty: End User Support:
Assists Help Desk personnel with escalated and/or complex issues. This includes but is not limited to: troubleshooting end user devices, classroom technology, virtual machines, network/WiFi issues, video conferencing systems, printers, and a variety of software applications. Facilitates technical consultation to academic and administrative staff to include the development of new processes or modifications of existing processes. Assists with acquiring, installing, and training on specialized software to support faculty and staff needs and school initiatives.

Ensure end user devices are patched and configured according to school policy using MDM and other system management applications. Create and update software packages for deployment. Write basic scripts using BASH or Powershell. Maintains security, compatibility, and overall effective operation of technology systems. Audits devices regularly to ensure configurations are maintained and in alignment with UofSC and SOMG security standards.

Assists Network Administrator with the design and deployment of network infrastructure. Perform network configuration changes such as activating ports, assigning VLANs, etc. Utilize network monitoring and security tools to identify and address issues and potential threats. Configure and troubleshoot network devices as needed. Maintain documentation for network infrastructure.

Job Duty: Server/Systems Management:
Ensure servers and datacenter applications and equipment are patched and configured according to school policy. Partners with the Systems Engineer on deployment and troubleshooting of VMware virtual environment and datacenter hardware. Utilize system and application monitoring tools to identify, prevent, and correct issues. Monitors antivirus and other security applications to review threats, create exceptions, and escalate issues as needed.

Track and maintain inventory of technology equipment including laptops, tablets, cables, adapters, etc. Receives new equipment, enters it into the appropriate systems, and prepares it for deployment. Ensures asset checkout and inventory systems are updated and compliant with school policy and performs regular audits of inventory.
