Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency. Under general direction, incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. This is a supervisory level for Computer Operations and the journey level for Information Security positions. This is an IT Professional III position within the Network Services Division of the Office of the Chief Information Officer located in Carson City, NV. The incumbent will work under supervision, responsible for the management and safeguarding of Cisco network switches, routers, and firewalls. Additionally, they will participate in the development of network security policies, standards, and procedures for the State enterprise. This position serves as a network analyst and network security analyst within the division and conducts internal security assessments of networking equipment. It also involves the administration of network management software and servers as needed. The individual should possess the capability to administer all Windows server and workstation operating systems in virtual environments. Furthermore, a strong grasp of network management systems, logging correlation platforms, and associated challenges is required. Interaction with customer agencies is essential for addressing trouble tickets, network design, administration, network security matters, and related issues.
