Compensation: $30.00-$35.00 per hour Housing Financial Specialist Job Description:
The Housing Financial Specialist is responsible for all aspects of general accounting functions for the housing authority. This role will prepare and reconcile financials including monthly financial reports, year-end close-out requirements, and audit requirements. This position will perform record keeping, filing, typing, and clerical duties as necessary and provide backup to the community development office assistant. What you'll do as a Housing Financial Specialist: Track invoices, prepare check requests, and distribute payments Receive and post payments, ensure updated information in the financial system; track late rents and send late rent notices, implement collection efforts, and track past due tenant accounts Ensure accuracy when submitting electronic payments and withdrawals for AP/AR Process and reconcile funding allocations and grant payments for housing programs Work with fee accountant to produce monthly and yearly financials and reporting Review and reconcile monthly financial statements ensuring accuracy and completeness Monitor investment accounts Serve as lead staff in coordinating and facilitating annual audits Serve as a point of contact for public inquiries over the phone and in person Manage orderly filing and record retention systems, both hard copy and electronic What you'll bring to the Housing Financial Specialist role: Two-year degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work-related experience2+ years of general accounting or bookkeeping experience Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs Ability to communicate effectively with people from all cultures and backgrounds Demonstrated cultural competence and comfort with supporting the strategic objectives for racial equity Ability to handle multiple functions and prioritize items Ability to work professionally with diverse populations including persons with disabilities, the elderly, and immigrant populations, resolving complaints and concerns Take the first step on your new career path!
