POSITION OVERVIEW: The Hancock County Public Defender Office is now accepting applications for the position of a part-time Receptionist/Administrative Assistant. We are an office of 6 attorneys and 5 support staff. We handle every aspect of indigent criminal defense from juvenile delinquency to serious felonies. The ideal candidate would be responsible for:
- Greeting and assisting clients for scheduled appointments, intakes, and other general inquiries with a friendly and professional manner
- Answer the main phone line and direct incoming calls to the appropriate party
- File paperwork to the appropriate files
- Complete the daily Court run for filing motions, handling paperwork, and picking up notices and judgement entries from all Courts.
- Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner
- Prepare letters to clients and manage data entry on our OPD system
- Promote good public relations and community outreach
- Competently operate all office equipment
- Interact in a positive manner with staff, clients and court personnel
- End of year file migration
- Assist the Felony, Misdemeanor, and Juvenile Administrative Coordinators as needed.

An ideal candidate will exercise sound judgment and decision-making and have the ability to handle sensitive information and inquiries from contacts with officials and the general public. A successful candidate is subject to a drug screen and fingerprint based criminal background check.
The Hancock County Public Defender Office provides quality legal services for indigent defendants charged with criminal offenses. Our office is located at 100 E. Main Cross, Ste. 200 in Findlay, Ohio. This is a part-time position, work hours are 9:00am – 4:00pm, Monday – Thursday.
