FORMULATION CHEMIST- SKIN CARE- PERMANENT POSITION
NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT
We are seeking a talented and motivated Formulation Chemist to join our Research and Development (R&D) team. The successful candidate will have a profound understanding of chemistry, particularly in skincare ingredient development for personal care products. As a Formulation Chemist, you will play a pivotal role in creating novel skincare ingredients and ensuring their effectiveness through meticulous formulation and testing.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and evaluate innovative skincare ingredients with a focus on metric-based performance in formulation. Conduct stability and compatibility tests on new formulations, making necessary adjustments to ensure adherence to quality standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Regulatory, and Supply Chain, to ensure product specifications are met. Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements related to green chemistry and skincare. Document all phases of research and development, including formulation procedures, test results, and final product specifications. Provide technical support and expertise to the production team during scale-up and manufacturing processes. Perform analysis of client mixtures to identify ideal additives for achieving client target goals. Share responsibilities for daily lab activities such as sample management, data organization, quality assurance/control, customer service requests, report preparation, and participation in laboratory safety meetings. Maintain organized data and deliver test reports and additional communication as required. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in cosmetic or skincare product formulation, demonstrating a proven track record of bringing products from concept to market. Experience with developing haircare and skincare formulations. Experience with sun care and color cosmetics is beneficial. Experience with claims substantiation is desirable. Preference for candidates with experience in small to mid-sized companies. Proficient in laboratory techniques, equipment, and safety protocols. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with regulatory standards and certifications in the cosmetics industry is advantageous. P19339241
