The Fiber Splice Designer ensures the construction and maintenance of a fiber distribution system that supports the needs of ALLO. Lead work of general difficulty in the field of fiber optics. You will be expected to promote ALLO's culture: We're Exceptional, Local, Hassel Free and Honest. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create fiber optic splice designs for Passive Optical Networks (PONs), Quadrant/Central Offices (COs)
Work with Construction and Splice teams to produce maps of the FTTH outside Plant (OSP) design.
Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography, and other geographic data for consideration in FTTH design projects.
Perform database updating for Outside Plant Infrastructure GIS System (3-GIS).
Plan and design FTTH networks following construction and government standards using 3-GIS design software.
Work with Allo design team and review the current Plant design to understand principles and practices of the current Allo FTTH design.
Ensure that OSP data is maintained and synchronized to Customer Support Systems (NISC) and Construction Tracking System (Beehive) from the 3-GIS Source System date.
Work with CSRs and Construction teams to ensure OSP and address data in all systems accurately reflect as-built state.
Field experience and technical data management of Outside Plant (OSP).
Familiar with GIS data management concepts.
Ability to design FTTH networks using Active Ethernet.
Engineering on design activities for the Core, MDU's, and local loop routes.
Ability to travel (25%)
Help assist in reviewing the 'Playbook' of Allo Design Guidelines used for auto-generated FTTH design, when available.
Help assist in reviewing auto-generated network designs Allo design guidelines to ensure adherence to Allo design guidelines, when available.
Help assist in reviewing auto-generated network designs and comment/correct as needed and suggest alternatives to the Allo design guidelines for fringe cases, when available.
Colorado Residents: typical pay range for this role will be from $20.00 - $25.00 per hour depending on experience.
EDUCATION:
High School diploma
GIS, Computer Science, or Engineering degree a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
2 years experience with Fiber Design
Microsoft excel and/or any mapping based programs
