This position will teach human resource management and other HR classes in person and online to the students of Utah Valley University. The Professional in Residence will teach undergraduate courses in Human Resource Management, with the ability to teach other core program courses (e.g., Training and Development, Organizational Development and Change, Strategic Staffing and Performance Management, HR Analytics, International HRM, HR Strategy, HRIS, Compensation and Benefits, etc..), using experiential education methods. Prepares instructional materials (course outlines, syllabi, exams, etc..) as necessary. Maintains a student-centered approach to education. Provides service. Summary of Responsibilities Plans, prepares, and teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses with measurable objectives. Prepares instructional materials, including examinations, course outlines, syllabus, visual aids and presentations. Evaluates instruction and learning outcomes through performance evaluations.Maintains and submits accurate and current reports and records regarding student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up. Schedules regular office hours and advises students during office hours as well as at other times as needed.Serves on Department, school, and university committees and other duties as assigned.Maintains "academic qualification" as per AACSB standards through regular, scholarly activities including publishing in peer-reviewed scholarly journals, presentations at academic conferences, and other scholarly work.Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with an appropriate degree in a field of study directly related to the summary of duties plus professional experience related to the program or discipline. See preferred qualifications for discipline or program-specific minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master degree in Human Resource management, Business Administration, or a closely related field. Significant HR industry experience. Evidence of potential for facilitating community-engaged experiential learning class projects and engaged learning experiences for students, consistent with a teaching university.ADDITIONALLY: Successful candidates should have college teaching experience in Human Resource Management content areas or related fields (including organizational behavior, strategy, and general management).Preference will be given to applicants with a well-developed background (or strong aspirations to develop a teaching record) in experiential education. Experience in online teaching is beneficial.Pragmatic teaching applications and approaches informed and enhanced by significant industry experience. Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities
Knowledge:
Knowledge of and demonstrated competence in professional human resource management practices and applications. Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques and current trends in education. Knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation. Knowledge of development and assessment of curriculum. Advanced knowledge of the subject matter and course content of the courses to be taught, which may include courses emphasizing both theory and practice. Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques in upper and lower-division courses. Knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation (evaluation of peer and self-instruction.) Demonstrated knowledge of program and curriculum development and evaluation.Skills:Demonstrated skills and experience in developing and coordinating undergraduate student programs and activities. Skilled in providing support for high-quality community-engaged experiential learning projects. Evidence of well-developed, collegial, and collaborative communication skills.Abilities:Ability to generate, integrate, and facilitate real-life HRM student projects aligned with a community organization (e.g. for-profit business, non-profit, government agency, etc..) Ability and willingness to provide expert classroom instruction, curriculum development, and program assessment. Demonstrated ability to teach across a spectrum of HR-related courses. EEO Statement:
