The Utah County Public Works Department is a multi-service Department within County government operating in the areas of Administration, Buildings, Engineering, Mapping, Motor Pool, Parks, Roads, Special Projects, Surveying and Telecommunications.

May Underfill as Facilities Maintenance Specialist I The Opportunity:
Under general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, performs skilled building maintenance, various construction activities, and needed repairs to Utah County owned or operated physical facilities. This is the working level of the series. Incumbents perform a broad array of assignments of considerable difficulty, requiring independent judgement.
Grade: Facilities Maintenance Specialist II – 721
Facilities Maintenance Specialist I - 719
Starting Pay: 721 - $24.34 - $27.97 per hour
719 - $21.19 - $24.34 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., but may vary at times
Job Qualifications – Facilities Maintenance Specialist II
1. Associate degree or Apprenticeship in facility maintenance, trades, or other related fields.
2. Two (2) years of work experience in facility maintenance and repair.
3. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
Job Qualifications – Facilities Maintenance Specialist I
1. Associate degree or apprenticeship in facility maintenance, trades or other related fields or two (2) years of work experience in facility maintenance and repair.
2. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
Preferred Candidates will possess some of the below attributes:
Selected applicants must obtain the following certifications during the probationary period for new hires or the trial period for promoted county employees. County employees reassigned, transferred, or advanced to this job through career ladder must possess these certifications and licenses upon reassignment, transfer, or career ladder advancement. Certifications must be maintained during employment. Selected applicants or county employees may be required to obtain additional certifications as directed.
a. Forklift Certification
b. CPR Certification
c. Complete a defensive driving course
d. Confined Space Training
e. Trench safety course
f. Completion of two (2) or more of the following classes/certifications:
i. State of Utah Fire Extinguisher Technician Certification
ii. State of Utah Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
iii. Certified welder
iv. Niagara and/or Delta Building Control Certificate
v. Type I, II, III, or Universal EPA CFC Certification and Utah State Natural Gas Certification
vi. Access Control Inet Certification
vii. Fire Alarm System Tech
viii. Automatic Fire Sprinkler System Tech
ix. HVAC Water Treatment Class with six (6) months of supervised water treatment of county equipment at satisfactory standards
x. Remote Pilot Certificate with a small UAS Rating
xi. Other applicable job certifications as approved or required by Supervisor and Division Manager
