Executive Chef

Le Diplomate , affiliated with  STARR Restaurants , pays sincere homage to French café culture, providing a comfortable, versatile gathering place that's become an anchor for Washington, D.C.'s resurgent 14th Street corridor. Painstakingly built out of a historic structure that harnesses the artful spirit of a Parisian brasserie, the interior and exterior pay subtle tribute to tradition, imbuing every meal with a sweeping sense of European drama. The extensive menu features a variety of Gallic classics, including onion soup gratinée, steak frites and escargots, as well as daily plates such as bouillabaisse and cassoulet. A thoughtfully curated wine list and specialty cocktail program complete the transporting experience.
The team is seeking a lead-by-example  Executive Chef with strong culinary skills and the desire to lead and mentor a large, diverse team providing exceptional dishes with care and consistency!

The desired candidate will have: A minimum of 5 years of progressive culinary management experience in well-rated restaurants Prior experience opening a new restaurant is a plus! Prior experience and success in running expo in a busy kitchen Experience hiring, training, and mentoring salaried managers and hourly BOH staff Strong financial acumen with the proven ability to oversee cost control, labor management, and bottom-line profitability Ability to mentor, motivate and drive performance and results of a diverse culinary workforce A love for French cuisine & culture!
