UNC's Arts and Sciences Foundation exists to raise philanthropic support for the highest development priorities of the College of Arts and Sciences. Under the leadership and governance of its Board of Directors, and with support from alumni and friends of the College, the Foundation works to grow and steward the College's $1.3 billion endowment. In the recent Campaign for Carolina, the Foundation team raised over $764 million, exceeding its goal of $750 million. The Foundation works collaboratively with University Development and almost every other School and Unit to maximize donor giving to the greater University benefit. The Arts and Sciences Foundation's mission is to enhance the College by meeting the needs of its academic departments, units, and centers; promoting teaching, research, and service; and supporting the continued development of knowledge and learning.
Position Summary: The Arts and Sciences Foundation seeks a full-time events and alumni engagement associate to assist in the coordination, execution, and management of special programs and events to cultivate and steward alumni, parents, students, and friends of the College of Arts and Sciences. This position will also assist the director of donor engagement and events in providing end to end support of event lifecycle, including but not limited to the following:
- Assisting the director of donor engagement and events in event administration strategy.
- Designing communication and event collateral, including menus, place cards, name tags and programs.
- Assisting with venue and vendor research.
- Coordinating event mailings including management of data, mail merges and printing of envelopes.
- Assisting with drafting event plans and briefings.
- Traveling to campus and off-campus venues to support event execution.
- Liaising with staff partners, guests, and vendors at events.
- Providing onsite support for registration, transportation, and event production.
- Assist with the coordination, communication and execution of prospective student visits.
The position requires someone extremely organized and able to prioritize many tasks and projects each day. This role requires keen attention to budgetary and logistical details as well as creativity, resilience, and problem-solving skills. This position also supports organizational needs for operations and events management.
This position reports to the Assistant to the Senior Associate Dean for Development and Administrative Supervisor. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience: - Event planning: Experience in event planning, coordination, marketing, promotion, and implementation. Outstanding organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Office Technology: Selects, understands, and fully applies a variety of features in software programs, databases, information systems, and specialized equipment, including UNC alumni database and building technology (control panel, computer, conference calls, audiovisual components and lighting).
- Excellent written, interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- A record of being a detail-oriented team player with an ability to work independently and within a strict time frame.
- Experience with program budgets and excel spreadsheets.
- Ability to take initiative, look for new challenges, seek clarity by asking questions to solve problems
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience: Direct event planning experience. Knowledge of the University and its physical campus. Experience working with donors, alumni and other external constituents. Experience working in a higher education institution or non-profit.Experience working with offices of Advancement, Development, Communications and University leadership in higher education preferred. Basic HTML and CSS skills as it pertains to email. Experience with Zoom, Adobe Creative Suite, Dropbox, and Paperless Post.
