The Position
Environmental Scientists perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, federal facilities, corrective action, mining, biology and other environmental programs.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This posting is for one position in the Minor Source Permitting Branch in the Bureau of Air Pollution Control. The duties of permitting include assisting facilities with permitting questions, reviewing permit applications for surface area disturbance permits, temporary construction permits, and general stationary permits, communicating with facilities to get additional information, determining potential emissions, and drafting air quality permits. To see full Class Specifications visit: To Qualify In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements: Qualifications Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the physical, natural resource or life sciences, engineering or closely related field; OR graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of technical environmental experience which involved assisting in environmental program research and planning; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
