POSITION SUMMARY The EHS Coordinator is responsible for assisting the EHS Manager in the compliance of OSHA and environmental regulations. This position is required to educate and implement all safety procedures and policies. The EHS Specialist will facilitate and support a safety conscious culture.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS All employees are required to support Rosenbauer's Mission, Vision, and Values.  The following are the essential duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer. 
Ensures adherence to all relevant environmental, health and safety rules and OSHA regulations. Create and maintain risk assessments while working with cross functional work teams on risk reduction. Educate employees and implement procedures and regulations to help prevent workplace injuries and reduce health risks. Test workplaces for environmental hazards, such as exposure to radiation, chemical or biological hazards, or excessive noise. Assist Human Resources with clinics and work comp claims. Lead the Safety Committee for Operations. Investigate workplace accidents, assist in providing corrective action with the Supervisor to prevent future recurrences, track the number of incidents, and produce reports. Keep up to date documentation for submittal of relevant health, environmental, and safety documents.  Conduct new employee safety orientation, AWAIR and regular employee ongoing safety training. Maintain a filing system regarding worker training and safety, and ensure competencies are completed prior to new employees starting job functions. Responds to regulatory inquiries and inspections pertaining to health, safety, and environmental and emergency programs as required. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the company. QUALIFICATIONS Required Education: High school diploma/GED. Preferred Education: Bachelors degree in Environmental Health Safety. Required Experience: 3+ years of EHS experience. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, NFPA, ANSI, ASME, and NIOSH standards and requirements, along with Minnesota State regulations and standards. Hands on experience with performing audits and writing reports. Preferred Experience: 5+ years of experience in an EHS role. OSHA Certification (30 hours). Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification. Position Requirements: Analytical and highly motivated individual, with acute attention to detail. Knowledgeable in OSHA guidelines and proficient with maintaining and following said guidelines accordingly. Able to recognize the importance and adherence to all safety policies in order to promote a safe working environment, for everyone at the organization. Process Oriented. Understands the need to support the organization to work effectively by adhering to the attendance and punctuality standards. Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including tack and diplomacy, which would be utilized during customer service, conflict management, development of relationships with internal and external contacts. Able to follow written and verbal directions and do so with a positive attitude. Proficient in your ability to manage multiple and diverse projects, including analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, problem solving, decision making, and carrying out assigned projects with minimal supervision. Proficient organization and time-management skills. Must handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion. Language Skills: Ability to read, reason and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Computer Skills: Ability to perform simple tasks, such as typing a letter and using basic commands such as setting tabs, opening, and closing files, simple formulas. Prior experience with a computer terminal and/or PC. Decision Making:  Responsibilities are guided by general company principles and objectives. There is broad latitude for making decisions with primary control over results that are reviewed at completion. WORKING CONDITIONS This position works in an office environment. It is a quiet environment that is temperature controlled, ventilated, and well-lit. Working Conditions will include a desk space where most of the shift will be spent, and it provides open space to work in. This office space is routinely cleaned by Rosenbauer Cleaning Services. It has access to all welfare facilities. This position requires traveling to different departments, so working conditions vary when out of the office. This can cause exposure to extreme cold or heat depending on the season. Working conditions may include humidity, wet floors, and loud noises. Most of the hazards come from machines but following proper procedures should minimize risk. There is also sometimes dust and airborne particles due to the machines being used in all of the different shops.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position requires sitting for an extended period of time with minimal standing or walking. Some tasks may require reaching. During shifts, the use of hands and fingers may exceed 60 minutes, while the use of feet, knees, legs, back, shoulders, and arms may reach a max of 15 minutes. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception. All positions require the ability to lift 50 pounds.
