Join the Maria Montessori Center team as a Elementary Lead Teacher. We are currently seeking an experienced, energetic and hard-working teacher. As a Lead Montessori Teacher you will be working with children between the ages of 6 years to 9 years or 9 years to 12 years.
Some of the responsibilities of the Lead teacher include, but are not limited to:
Making Lesson Plans for the month.
Preparing for yearly events.
Record keeping for the Primary students.
Responsible for preparation of the classroom environment, materials and equipment -ensures that all materials are in good repair and all sets complete.
Develops and makes materials when needed.
Plan and implement the Montessori curriculum. Give appropriate presentations and establish a record keeping system to track the children's progress.
Supervise the classroom assistant, aide, interns, substitutes, and parent volunteers. Provide necessary instruction and training for those assisting in the classroom environment.
Promote good communication among staff members.
Facilitate a respectful environment for children and adults by advocating conflict resolution and Grace and Courtesy lessons.
Ensure respectful and open lines of communication with parents. Be available to parents through written communication, setting up conferences, and educating parents in Montessori philosophy.
Plan and host Parent Education events twice a year.
Assess prospective children when they visit the school.
Provide first aid as needed and complete appropriate forms for parents.
Comply with all continuing education requirements.
Attend all faculty meetings and scheduled staff events
Complete 10 hour training every year and update First Aid/CPR and Fire Safety Training
Job requirements include:
Associates/Bachelor's Degree REQUIRED
Montessori Certification PREFERRED
AMI preferred
Previous experience in an early childcare facility and/or Montessori School
Ability to independently develop and execute strategy
Strong communicative, oral and written, skills
Computer literacy
Good public relation skills
