About Joliet The ExxonMobil Joliet Refinery is located about 40 miles southwest of Chicago in Channahon, Illinois. Residents of the area have access to many local activities, from shopping, dining and museums, to golf courses, parks, trails and auto racing events. Add to these the many opportunities the Chicago metropolitan area, or "Chicagoland," has to offer, the Joliet Refinery makes a desirable work location.
The Joliet Refinery is the second newest refinery in the United States and will celebrate its 50th year in 2022. As the center of ExxonMobil's Midwest integrated operations, it include pipelines, lubes production, distribution and fuels marketing. The refinery is one of the most energy efficient in the Unites States and processes nearly 250,000 barrels of crude per day into gasoline, ultra-low sulfur diesel, asphalt and other products.

What role you will play in our team The Electrical Engineer will be located at the Joliet Refinery and has overall responsibility to provide engineering support to the day-to-day operation of the facility. This support includes but is not limited to the following: provide support to the Refinery Business Teams and Electrical Mechanical Department; provide design and construction oversight of refinery projects; identify and develop opportunities to improve the reliability and competitiveness of the refinery.
What you will do Provide support to the refinery Business Teams and to the Electrical Mechanical Department Provide technical guidance and review for Electrical procedures, programs, and practices Provide troubleshooting and data analysis expertise Provide refinery technical expertise to communicate/work with other internal and external Electrical Engineers and other engineering disciplines Provide technical expertise to design, estimate, and provide construction oversight for new equipment installations related to industrial power systems and field equipment Provide technical expertise for PLC systems, interlock systems, and DCS Provide support and oversight for capital improvement work through coordination with Projects department and offsite engineering resources  Provide coordination with contracted field and engineering resources as required Maintain level of technical expertise in key technologies via training, seminars, and professional organizations 

  About you Skills and Qualifications: B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree/work experience Values safety in all aspects of work Demonstrated work experience in the Electrical Engineering profession Demonstrated work experience in the design, specification, installation, and documentation of industrial power systems Excellent organizational competencies including strong oral and written communication skills Proven ability to manage short deadlines, emergency situations, and multiple priorities Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline, team environment Proficient in the use of computers Preferred Qualifications/ Experience: Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards (NEC, ISA, etc.) & Electrical Area Classification SKM PowerTools Knowledge of NFPA 70E and Arc Flash analysis Strong analytical and communication skills Demonstrated work experience in industrial substations Demonstrated work experience with DCS & PLC control systems Prior experience in a manufacturing or refinery environment Prior experience working with field personnel in construction and troubleshooting activities Your benefits An ExxonMobil career is one designed to last.
