Instructional Assistant Litchfield, CT 06759 Full-Time Hourly Position GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Special Education Instructional Assistant assists students with special needs under the direction of a certified teacher. They will assist the teacher in general daily classroom activities, help special needs students, cares for their physical, emotional health and safety, affirming their abilities, and strives to promote dignity in all relationships. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Associates degree (or equivalent credits-60); Bachelor degree preferred Experience working with students in special education programs Experience with reinforcing and supporting a positive classroom culture/environment based on diverse student needs SCHEDULE AND RATE OF PAY: Monday – Friday 7:30am-2:30pm Hourly paying position English speaking - $18.00 per hour Spanish speaking - $19.00 per hour ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide instructional and behavioral support for students Support academic and vocational teachers in developing special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on the individual student, their needs, interests and abilities Assist in enforcing rules of behavior for maintaining an environment conducive to learning for all students Assist teachers/instructors to implement IEPs for specific students Guide students from one area of the program to another Supervise students in common areas Assist students with classroom assignments Alert teachers to problems that may be observed Maintain professional competence by participating in staff development activities, curriculum development meetings, and other professional opportunities FULL-TIME BENEFITS:
