Job Duties and Responsibilities DISH is seeking a skilled Earth Station Operations (ESO) Engineer I to join our team, bringing expertise in designing, developing, manufacturing, installing, and providing engineering analysis for ESO radio-frequency (RF) equipment, components, and systems. The role encompasses project management skills and Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in RF equipment crucial for operating a large 24x7 satellite communications earth station. The ideal candidate will also possess knowledge in computer server maintenance, troubleshooting, and networking.
Key Responsibilities: Serve as the primary on-shift SME technical resource for on-shift personnel, specializing in troubleshooting and repairing ESO equipment components, including waveguide assemblies, cabling, and fiber optic systems Manage shift workloads in the absence of the shift Supervisor, demonstrating supervisory responsibilities by organizing, training, leading, and delegating tasks within the department Ensure continuous customer support for EchoStar, Dish Network, and internal/external customers using SOP related procedures, working under minimal supervision Demonstrate leadership by serving as a mentor to new employees and peers, collaborating on cross-functional projects, and coordinating with vendors for engineering projects and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) items Drive special projects to completion, analyze technical drawings, specifications, and databases, ensuring O&M conforms to established standards and departmental requirements Utilize monitor and control systems to trend data, perform periodic inspections, and ensure the health of all Earth Station equipment. This includes manual snow/ice removal from antennas Utilize common RF test equipment and hand/power tools, such as multi-meters, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, torque wrenches, drills, and crimping tools Work outdoors in all elements, lift 75 pounds, climb ladders, operate a motor vehicle, and work at heights up to 50 feet. Rotating shift work, including holidays and weekends, is required Train other Technicians/Engineers on policies and procedures, ensuring a cohesive and well-trained department Previous experience in a supervisory role is beneficial for effectively managing shift responsibilities Skills, Experience and Requirements Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree preferred Background in RF Technologies/Satellite Communications/IT Server Maintenance is a plus Completion of a basic electronics course from a military technical school or accredited technical school/university is a plus 0-3+ years of RF-related work experience is suggested, with experience preferred Skills and Qualifications: A valid DOT motor vehicle license is required for operating the aerial lift The aerial lift is used on company property and parking lots to access antenna components beyond safety boundaries Ability to climb a vertical ladder unassisted, exceeding 30 feet, to access equipment on antenna platforms Ability to move or lift 75 lbs, including handling klystron tubes and clearing snow from antenna reflectors Must work at heights up to 50 feet, including tasks on aerial lifts and antenna components Able to work outdoors in inclement weather, slippery surfaces, and uneven areas Required to clear antennas of snow and ice or conduct antenna repairs during the heat of the day Must be able to work any shift in a 24x7x365 environment to meet Dish customers' needs Must stand, climb, walk, and reach while performing job duties Ability to respond to audible and visual alarms Ability to monitor services, including adult content, without objections Salary Ranges
Compensation: $71,000.00/Year - $84,950.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
