BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY
The Drilling Engineer provides planning, design, and documentation for well drilling programs. Administers drilling and service contracts, plans well drilling operations, works with drilling personnel on site and requires minimal supervision.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in engineering
EXPERIENCE
Requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in oil and gas drilling practices
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Perform drilling engineering work requiring application of complex techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of engineering tasks Prepare estimated drilling well costs and AFE generation for company operated exploratory, developmental, and remedial drilling activities Develop precise and accurate well designs for drilling activities Provide technical assistance to drilling operations staff to ensure that each well is completed in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner Determine and provide best practices to achieve optimum drilling performance Pursue continuous improvement as part of daily work activities Perform problem well analysis, support and engineering studies as needed Possess the responsibility and authority to stop unsafe work by employees or contractors OTHER REQUIREMENTS Oil and gas industry experience preferred Practice safe work habits at all times Demonstrate commitment to Devon Attributes Knowledge in state/province and federal regulatory laws and regulations Strong verbal and written communication skills Creative individual, capable of analyzing and solving problems Able to work independently Strong interpersonal skills with ability to effectively work within a multi-disciplinary team to achieve project related goals Efficient time management and the ability to concurrently handle multiple projects Intermediate level computer skills Experience in the design and execution of horizontal wells Qualified applicants are considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, status as a protected veteran or other characteristics protected by law.
