Join us for a career in sales that changes lives.The Surgical Safety and Closure District Manager is responsible for supervising Sales Representatives within their assigned area and achieving sales objectives for that area, while representing Medtronic in accordance with Company policies and AdvaMed guidelines. The Area Manager hires and develops new Sales Representatives in their sales territory, works with Sales Representatives in their sales territories on a regular basis and reviews individual Sales Representatives' performance. The Area Manager is expected to demonstrate High Performance Practices and key Area Manager competencies as they meet and exceed objectives for this role.A Day in the LifeOverview Sales Representatives selling activitiesManage and communicate individual territory sales quotas annually. Oversee consistent quota achievement of each Sales Representative within the District.Work with Representatives regularly to formulate, monitor and improve selling plans and all sales-related activities, in alignment with the strategic imperatives of the business.Drive new account conversions and new product sales; act as a field resource to the Marketing Department during product development, new product introductions and evaluations.Plan and coordinate significant travel as needed to support multi-state geography including customer engagements and seller development activities.Create and execute on strategic objectives for DistrictAlign with Sales Leaders to prioritize Representatives' time and focus on key opportunities.Assist sellers in establishing relationships and creating environment to defend base business and protect and grow committed accounts.Attend quarterly planning calls with Sales Leaders and Representatives. Plan and coordinate other appropriate area sales meetingsReport facility-level information impacting account targets utilizing saleforce.com and other tools to Sales Leaders (e.g. new opportunities, changes in procedure mix, etc.)Manage Sales Rep recruiting and trainingInterview, hire and develop new Sales RepresentativesConduct a 2-3 day field ride with each representative at least once per quarter to observe performance.Evaluate sales representative performance, develop and execute action plans for improvement. Follow up with written evaluation reports to therepresentative through Salesforce.com. Focus on representatives' development to ensure availability of quality talent pool for promotion.Ensure compliance with company policiesManage and monitor area sales expense budget. Maintain an ongoing assessment of expense-to-budget performance.Attend required national trade shows; attend and staff local trade shows within the area as deemed appropriate. Coordinate as necessary with the Marketing Department.Administer company policies and procedures to Representatives in the area. Ensure compliance with The Medtronic Guide to BusinessConduct, Good Manufacturing Practices, and safety policies. Promote Total Quality Management and foster a "teaming" environment.Support a safe and healthy work environment. Follow the established rules, policies and practices of environmental, health and safety with specific attention to the Medtronic Cardinal Rules.Perform all other duties as required by the SD / V.P. Sales & Marketing.ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS:Create and maintain key relationshipsSelectively maintain relationships with VAC influencers at key facilities; if facility-level VAC exists, call on clinical and economic stakeholders.Conduct frequent account planning visits, interacting on a recurrent basis (once per quarter at least) with key economic and clinical stakeholders.Actively monitor facility compliance (specifically within decentralized / centralizing IDNs); focus Sales Representative on driving compliance opportunities.Coordinate with Directors of Strategic Accounts and peer SSC DMsCoordinate and collaborate with Director of Strategic Accounts and peer SSC DMs on upcoming opportunities for products across divisionsPromote the use of wrap agreements covering multiple classes of trade and improving Medtronic's overall businessSupport Integrated Health Network (IDN) strategy planning, providing input to IDN- and facility-level opportunity assessments in collaboration with Director of Strategic Accounts.Provide facility-level operations knowledge at IDN-level business reviews.Communicate with DSAs on account's compliance level and coordinate actions in case account is out of compliance.Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.Promotes and sells Medtronic's Medical/Scientific Equipment products and services including non-implantable medical or scientific equipment products and/or services (e.g., diagnostic medical equipment, medical imaging machines, medical laboratory equipment, and non-implantable medical devices) within an assigned geographic area and /or specific customer accounts to meet or exceed sales targets.Responsible for developing, building, and strengthening long-term relationships with stakeholders including hospitals, physicians, and Radiology and Surgical personnel.Responsible for pursuing leads, assessing needs and providing product services to maximize the benefits derived from Medtronic's Medical/Scientific Equipment products and/or services.Conducts and/or evaluates market research including customers and competitors activities.Develops and/or implements market development plans/strategies and changes as needed.Assesses customer needs and feedback regarding new products and/or modifications to existing products and communicates to internal stakeholders including R&D, Operations and Marketing.Must Have: Minimum RequirementsBachelors degree requiredMinimum of 5 years of medical device sales experience and leadership experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of medical device sales experience and leadership experienceNice to Have5+ years being a people leader with a demonstrated track record for meeting and exceeding sales objectives in a medical device sales environmentPrevious history of quota attainmentDocumented history of exceeding customer requirementsAbout MedtronicTogether, we can change healthcare worldwide.
