Morgan Stanley is seeking a Director of Tax for the Americas to join our dynamic Human Resources team. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Payroll Tax and is responsible for the administration of the Americas tax funding and reconciliation with each payroll.The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with a strong work ethic, drive, initiative, and interest in the accuracy of Americas taxation. The person should be analytical by nature, detail oriented and enjoys the technical aspects of managing the tax program. We are looking for a team player with the ability to successfully coordinate and communicate across various HR, Payroll and Finance professionals, always striving to do what is right for our employees while balancing the needs of the business and is excited to work in a vibrant and collaborative team environment.Help identify and implement process improvements and process streamlining with respect to International and US Domestic Payroll Taxes and their payroll funding processWork closely building partnerships with Human Resources, Finance and Corporate Legal and Tax departmentsReconcile Canada and US Domestic Payroll Taxes and request applicable funding for all payrollsUpload and release all ACH Payroll Files, providing confirmation bank statement reports to accounting as applicablRequest applicable funding for Chile, Peru, Argentina, and Colombia PayrollsResearch and resolve Payroll Tax Fallouts and register for new jurisdictions as applicableReview and update tax supplemental rates for Executive Comp FileReview and upload applicable Agency Tax Notices to our Third-Party vendor for research and resolutionPrepare Tax Filings and payments for filings not supported from our third-party vendor such as Nevada Modified Business Tax, Washington Workers Comp, Ontario EHT, and Quebec RL1 SummaryPerform Canadian Payroll tax reconciliation at year-end and sign-off for T4's and RL'sAssist Canadian employees with inquiries related to their taxes and tax formsHandle all aspects related to State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) Rates, maintaining, reconciling, and tracking down any missing SUI tax RatesProvide payroll tax reporting to Corporate Tax, HR Benefits and Finance as neededTake the lead in all tax audits and annual census reports working with the applicable departments to gather the appropriate information and responsesProvide Multiple Worksite Reporting for New York and CaliforniaPreferred 5 or more years experience of US indirect tax compliance, audits, or related work in public or private accounting, or equivalent experience; preferably with SaaS and/or digitized/online products experienceExperience in the financial services industry a plus but not requiredProven track record of managing projects and of continuously reviewing and improving process required while leverage the core Six Sigma principlesStrong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills with the ability to develop internal and external networksMust have ability to think critically and self-reviewStrong control focus while maintaining a high level of client serviceSelf-motivated, with a desire to succeed and develop professionally and personallyAbility to multi-task in fast paced environment and be a team playerConfident working with colleagues in worldwide business locationsFocus on collaboration across teams and geographic regionsProficiency with Microsoft Office and financial systems as well as strong analytical, reporting and data querying skillsMorgan Stanley's goal is to build and maintain a workforce that is diverse in experience and background but uniform in reflecting our standards of integrity and excellence.
