Summary: Trackonomy is seeking a highly qualified Director of Purchasing with a robust background in supply chain management, and engineering. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics (KSAOs) to excel in this multifaceted role.
Responsibilities: Strategic Sourcing and Collaboration: Interface with cross-functional stakeholders, including Engineering, Finance, and Factory Operations, to contribute to the development of the sourcing strategy. Communicate and coordinate technical exchanges between suppliers and engineers to ensure alignment on material specifications. Material Readiness Management: Ensure that material readiness aligns with the demand from the volume production facility. Coordinate with production planning and scheduling teams to match material availability with production requirements. Monitor inventory levels and procurement lead times to proactively address any potential shortages or excesses. NPI management focus Coordinate the planning and scheduling of super fast turn component, PCBA, PCBA and whole product items for prototype builds in close cooperation with engineering Supplier and Contract Manufacturer Management: Manage PCB suppliers and Contract Manufacturers for daily operations and address commercial topics. Hands-on management in issue resolution, driving for closure and continuous improvement. Manage fast turn partners for PCB, PCBA, mechanical, plastic molding and sheet metal for engineering prototypes Procurement Transformation and Improvement: Develop and drive procurement transformation and improvement projects, focusing on cost reduction and risk mitigation through alternate sourcing and using our global footprint Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvement opportunities and enhance tools and processes. Operational Oversight and Communication: Coordinate within the Procurement team to ensure continued product availability with supply flexibility. Take initiatives to identify critical shortages, implement risk buys, reduce lead times, and mitigate supply risks. Financial Management and Engineering Contribution: Drive cost reduction initiatives together with engineering (cost down design) and through supplier negotiations Record and track the Cost of Bill of Materials for all products. Possess engineering proficiency and experience to contribute to engineering discussions and issue resolution. Additional Responsibilities: Perform all other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering. Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is possible if work experience demonstrates deep knowledge of electronic components 8-10 years of experience in materials management, manufacturing, operations, or hardware development. Experience in working with PCB and/or PCB Assembly contract manufacturers Purchasing experience for direct purchases of electronics components, PCB and PCBA Forecasting and inventory management skills. Proficient with planning and purchasing parameters (MOQ, safety stock, reorder points, etc.). Ability to travel globally (visa) Preferred Qualifications: Spanish language proficiency Purchasing Experience for direct purchases of adhesives, injection molded components, cables and sheet metal Ability to drive solutions in ambiguous situations with limited supervision. Open-minded self-starter with adaptability and problem-solving skills. Experience using MRP/ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred). The successful candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and team-building skills, and will be adept at communicating with all levels of the organization and cross-functional teams.


The salary range for this role is $120,000 to $250,000, plus bonuses and Pre-IPO equity. It is uncommon for anyone to be hired at or near the top range for their role, and final compensation is based on the facts and circumstances of the case. The compensation range is broad because it reflects many factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience, and training directly relevant to the role, business and company needs, cultural fit, level, and location.
